Nassau Assisted Living Facility Worker Struck Woman In Face, Police Say

A woman employed as a health-care worker allegedly struck a 92-year-old victim in the face at a Long Island assisted living facility.

It happened around 4:50 a.m.on Monday, Feb. 10 in East Garden City.

According to detectives, Andrea B. Richards, 48, of St. Albans, Queens, while employed as a health care worker, struck the victim with her right hand causing the victim substantial pain and a black and blue discolored eye.

Richards was arrested without incident at her home at 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11. 

 She has been charged with:

  • second-degree assault,
  • endangering an incompetent person, 
  • endangering the welfare of the elderly. 

Richards was arraigned on Wednesday, Feb. 13, in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.

Detectives request anyone that may have been a victim of Richards to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers or call 911. All callers will remain anonymous.
